Liz Cabral

Fashion Director, FLARE Magazine. Toronto

My husband built and organized my shoe closet as a birthday gift while I was away (this is only half of it and I’ve already outgrown it). I rotate my faves at the time so I can clearly see them.

Of all my shoes, I may be most proud of these. I actually designed them as a collaboration for FLARE Magazine and Aldo. I love a great wedge!

This wall is a catch all for show invites that I love - some are so great I hate throwing them away - postcards and pictures. The Peter Lindbergh pics of Linda and Tatjana remind me of when my love affair with fashion started in the early 90‘s. These Marc Jacobs shoes were an impulse buy and are killer, literally they hurt like hell!

The shoes on the left were my first Celine purchase after Phoebe Philo took over. I’ve basically lusted after everything she’s designed and treat myself to one piece a season. The other shoes are Lanvin, they’re like a moving art installation with the metal and crystal studded heel. The wallet is Chanel - too flashy for everyday but works as a clutch for evening.

These pieces together are so French seaside! I adore the mini Chanel bag, it’s the perfect hands free purse for dancing. Clearly I loved the Laboutin flats, they’ve seen better days. I was unsure of the red laces when I bought them, but grew to totally love them. The Chanel jacket is a classic. I’ll wear it, put it away for years and when I bring it back out, it feels just as current.

The feather dress was a gift from Kirk and Stephen of Canadian label Greta Constantine, the boys are the sweetest. The dress’ style name was actually “The Liz” and was inspired by me... love them. I was having a blush moment a couple years ago, thus the pink Balenciaga heels.

The top, pin and vest are Chanel, I’d never thought of wearing them together. The leopard Doc Martens are a bit of a departure for me but they’re fun, I just wore them all through Coachella.

This photo was a wedding gift from photographer Max Abadian. It’s a shot of Daria from a shoot we did years ago - I love that there’s a super model hiding under all that hair. Pretty sure the shoes she’s wearing are from the same season as the silver ones I own on top.

Um... I’m afraid I’m starting to look like a Chanel hoarder. Chanel jackets transcend age and style, that’s why you can never have too many of them. I’m crazy about the ribbon waist on this blazer. Now in my thirties, I edge it up with Comme des Garçons or Rick Owens, but in my seventies I’ll likely be wearing it with head to toe Chanel or a little Yohji. The frame on the left contains an invitation from Alexander McQueen’s “The Girl Who Lived in the Tree” show.

The cropped sweater is Carven - I currently have a cropped sweater obsession, just bought three of them at once. The faux python gloves are Club Monaco, they look deceivingly expensive and look great with every coat I own. The Comme des Garçons wallet I’ve had for over ten years and I swear it never ages, so classic and not played out. The sequined belt is actually from a Chanel dress that I wore to my civil wedding ceremony in Italy. The Ray Bans need no explaining, they’re classics. Full stop.

Founder of P.S. - I made this… New York

I have a love affair with Sharpies. They are bold, colorful, and make a statement - what’s not to love. The Hermès bracelet was a gift from my best friend! (P.S. - Her name is Sass, really - I swear).

My book is an extension of myself, psimadethis.com and everything in between - It’s fun to open my DIY doors and welcome everyone to peak and play. It was the most rewarding project I have ever worked on… get involved! The prep patches are super fun! The marquee letters were left over from a shoot. It’s fun to spell things out. My friend Ben Watts left the shoot with letters to spell out his daughter's name “RUBY”.
Necklaces, P.S. - I made this…

I designed Givenchy watches straight out of college and became obsessed with timepieces, which are magical. I have been collecting them ever since. I covet my toolbox. I found this at the flea market on Melrose/Fairfax in LA.

The Coveteur captures the essense of ELD: Taxidermy. Tassels. Text books.

My mom wore this when she married my dad. She was a hippie. A flower child. A free spirit. A bride.
Skirt, Mother’s Wedding Outfit

Midas touch. P.S. - I made this… gold oxford by spraying, adding chain and brads. A winning pair. The scissors are awesome and I got them from Target (double awesome). I was fortunate enough to DIY hats with Donatella at the Art of Elysium’s Bright Lights event, where I worked with Dasani to create and customize Green Caps. PS - I helped her open her safety pins because her nails were so long. P.S. - I love her… so much.

Nothing makes me HAPPIER than my j’amazing craft closet! It houses all my DIY bits and bobs in the most insanely organized fashion that opens up to 9 feet. P-touch labels make for a quick ID (from spray paint to rhinestones), removable bins for 1,2,3 easy access, every single kind of paint, paper, glue and tape your heart desires!

While fluent in French and Spanish, Kaplan's fierce red mane matched with her no-nonsense attitude has made her one of today's most well respected fierce PR chicks ferociously at the top of her game. And, with a drool-worthy closet, I just had to show you.

The red jacket is stunning - it is H&M. I wanted the 2009 poufy sleeved formal Dolce dress, but could not afford it and always love this orange red. This jacket literally jumped at me at H&M - screaming BUY ME BUY ME NOW!

This rug was acquired when I had a tough time last year... I thought the World War II message could help me. Like a huge post it reminder your stumble on every day. The little sparklers are Giuseppe Zanotti - my version of low key flats...

In addition to KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON, I believe colors affect your moods and I love brights as is noticeable in my choices of the few day or evening Chanel bags...It is a natural mood enhancer.

The necklace is from Lanvin... it is also a belt - a 2 in 1 - so practical - (well anyway that was the reasoning behind it) - I bought it at the WEBSTER in Miami - where else? The bag is old Prada made with vintage fabric... Not practical but beautiful.

I just love J.Crew. A go to for fashion staples. Perfect with the classic Marilyn Monroe collection. Two American icons...
Necklace, J.Crew

I grew up with a very feminine mother and grandmother that passed on their taste in jewelry, stones, craftsmanship and pieces that are uncommon but have a classic quality. I tend to overdo it - almost every piece has a sentimental attachment to it...just like the sterling silver tray and small boxes where the pieces are displayed on.

These heels are Balenciaga, but I reworked them - they originally had black and white stripes which were too much with the stones so I had them painted black...now they are perfect. A balance between tough and feminine.
Shoes, Balenciaga

I bought these Balenciaga heels at the Webster... again. The bag is a small kelly green Birkin. Chic and to the point.

The shirt Carven - a new obsession!
Shirt, Carven; Bag, Chanel; Shoes, Chloe; Watch, Cartier; Rings/bracelets, Chanel and family heirlooms

The two matelasse rings are Chanel, the other one was bought at a small jewelry dealer in the south of Bangkok could be Chanel because of the flower... it is a joyful ring especially with a tan in the summer. Paris is my hometown but I chose NY as my land of adoption. I love Paris for its intrinsic beauty, working with French companies I am fortunate enough to be able to always keep a foot in France... They always say French women are effortlessly chic. I think French women living abroad have all the fun.

This clutch was love at first sight - light, efficiently and sufficiently sparkling, easy to pack, and will dress up any outfit. I bought it in Paris to carry at my sister’s wedding. And I simply love it.

Everyone needs a little bit of leopard. It is a few years old but it will never be out of style. It is a laptop briefcase but I use it for meetings to carry folders... it adds fashion to anything you wear.
